Omaha, Nebraska – An unfortunate incident occurred on Storz Expressway at 16th Street Sunday when an Omaha Police officer’s cruiser was hit by an SUV.
The Omaha Police Department (OPD) reported that the SUV, while traveling east on the expressway, failed to stop at a red light and collided with the officer’s cruiser. This caused the cruiser to overturn, ending up on its roof, and it subsequently collided with another SUV that was stationary at the light.
The officer sustained minor injuries from the incident and was rushed to Nebraska Medicine. Fortunately, his injuries are not severe, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Alongside the officer, the individual who was driving the SUV that caused the accident, as well as the driver and an infant from the second SUV, were also taken to the hospital for medical attention.
