NOMAFEST returns with a four-day event in Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska – Marking its second annual event, the North Omaha Music and Arts Festival (NOMAFEST) is set to pay tribute to the rich history of music through a four-day extravaganza.

As per an official statement from the festival, the event is scheduled to take place from Thursday, July 27, to Sunday, July 30. The chosen venue for this year’s festival is the NOMA building, located at the junction of 24th and Lake streets.

The festival’s daily agenda is filled with numerous performers, embodying NOMA’s mission, which is centred around “energizing the community and honoring its rich, musical history.”

Inaugurating the festival on Thursday will be an array of performances, featuring the 2021 Nebraska Music Hall of Fame inductee, The Richie Love Show, the headline act, The Love Connection Band, and a selection of special guests. This inaugural event, set to commence at 8 p.m., is open to the public without any admission charges.

Transitioning to a different musical rhythm on Friday, Aya Ito will captivate the audience, an artist whose style has been shaped by icons such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and H.E.R., amongst others. The line-up will be further enriched by Dana Murray and the NOMA Ensembles, with the event beginning at 8 p.m.

The highlight of Saturday’s 7 p.m. show will be Ron E Beck, an Omaha-born drummer and singer, renowned for his expertise in funk music. Attendees holding VIP tickets will have the added privilege of attending the watch party for the Spence Jr./Crawford fight.

The festival will draw to a close on Sunday with an afternoon party running from 3 to 7 p.m. DJ ReRe of Miami, who is “on a mission to spread positivity and passion,” will offer an energetic finale with her infectious beats, as per the festival’s news release.

Dana Murray, the Executive Director of NOMA, expressed the unifying power of music, stating, “Music is a great unifier of people. NOMAFEST represents a spirit of fellowship in which we can share our vision and mission with the North Omaha community as well as the entire city. We are building on the success of last year’s event and are excited to extend this year’s event over several days, providing more opportunities to join in the excitement and hear from world-class music talents.”
