Omaha, Nebraska – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska organized their inaugural t-shirt tie-dyeing event this Saturday. The company aimed to offer both its employees and the beneficiaries of their services a vibrant symbol of its commitment to diversity.
The event unfolded in Aksarben Village, with participants immersing themselves in the lively atmosphere marked by music and diverse activities. T-shirt tie-dyeing was the highlight of the day, an initiative taken by the company to prepare for the forthcoming Heartland Pride Parade scheduled next week.
Despite recent legislative actions that could be interpreted as anti-LGBTQ+, Miranda Mayer expressed that events like these, along with the Pride Parade, reinforce Blue Cross’s position as a haven for individuals across all spectrums of identity.
“It means a lot to the LGBTQ community especially though, to know we have a safe place here, in the building, at work. We’re out, we’re here, we are proud to be here. We’re not going anywhere. We own that,” Mayer stated emphatically.
For those interested in joining the Pride Parade, it is set to take place next Saturday at 10 a.m. The procession will commence from the Capitol District situated near downtown.
