Omaha, Nebraska – Omaha authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and injuries to a passenger.
The incident took place at approximately 2:08 pm when police received a dispatch regarding a personal injury crash involving a motorcycle.
Based on the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, it was determined that a 2006 Yamaha YZFR motorcycle traveling southbound veered off the roadway and collided with a tree in the vicinity of 260 Regency Pkwy.
Tragically, the motorcyclist, identified as 33-year-old Hilario Chavez, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 40-year-old Jennifer Contreras, sustained a fractured arm and was subsequently transported to Bergan Mercy for medical treatment.
Police have stated that speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather all relevant information.
