Omaha, Nebraska – Opera Omaha, a prominent cultural institution, recently unveiled the names of two new appointees to its Holland Community Opera Fellowship (HCOF). Starting this autumn, Alejandra Sandoval-Montañez and Jazmine Salaberrios will join current fellows Taylor Adams and Charisa Ramsey for the 2023-24 season.
As clarified in an official press release, the chosen fellows carry out ambassadorial roles for the company. The statement reads, “fellows serve as ambassadors of the company by bringing their artistic talents and resources to the table, partnering with experts in the community who are actively working to solve the most pressing challenges our neighbors are facing.”
The fresh additions to the fellowship bring a wealth of experience and skills. Alejandra Sandoval-Montañez, of Mexican-American heritage, is a mezzo-soprano, educator, and social networker, having previously performed with such esteemed organizations as the Gilbert and Sullivan Company.
Jazmine Salaberrios, on the other hand, has garnered significant experience in touring as an emerging artist for the Coalition of African Americans in the Performing Arts. Her singing prowess has also seen her perform as a featured soloist for a range of notable institutions and events including Clark Atlanta University, Delaware State University, Grace Church, Crestwood Christian Church, 105 Voices of History National HBCU Choir, 16 Legacy Voices, Delaware Master Player’s Series, the University of Kentucky Opera Theater Gala, Opera Lex Encore, USA President’s National Prayer Breakfast, United States Dover Air Force, Siena Summer Music, Kentucky Opera, Bayview Music Festival, and the Berlin Opera Academy.
The Holland Community Opera Fellowship, which provides these enriching opportunities for artists, was inaugurated in the year 2017.
