Search intensifies for Omaha’s most-wanted assault suspect

Omaha, Nebraska – The Omaha Police Department is intensifying its search for a 39-year-old woman who has been on the run for over three months, landing her on the city’s most-wanted list.

Genita Moore, also known as Genita Harris, is the subject of a police search following her involvement in a violent incident on September 5, 2023. She is wanted for an assault that escalated into a stabbing, as detailed in an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit reveals a series of disturbing events leading up to the assault. The victim reported seeing a male friend entering an apartment complex near 30th and Blondo Street with Moore. The victim cautioned the friend against accompanying Moore, alleging that “the suspect was actually a male.” This confrontation led to Moore pepper-spraying the victim. In response, the victim grabbed a concealed knife from her underwear and began to swing it in self-defense.

The situation rapidly deteriorated, with the victim seeking refuge in a nearby NP Mart and urging an employee to call 911. Security footage from the store shows a chaotic scene where the suspect, identified as Moore, is seen pouring milk on herself, chasing the victim around the store, and assaulting her multiple times. The footage also captures the moment Moore allegedly used a Swiss Army-style knife to cut the victim.

Moore currently has an outstanding arrest warrant for second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The Omaha Police Department, in partnership with Crime Stoppers, is seeking public assistance to locate Moore. Individuals with any information about Moore’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP (7867), visit omahacrimestoppers.org, or use the P3 Tips mobile app.
