55 pounds of cocaine found in spare tire compartment during I-80 traffic stop in Nebraska

York, Nebraska – In a routine patrol stop, the Nebraska State Patrol reported a significant drug bust along Interstate 80, leading to the confiscation of 55 pounds of suspected cocaine.

On Friday morning, at approximately 7:45 a.m., a State Trooper noted a vehicle in violation of license plate regulations. The vehicle was parked at an eastbound I-80 rest area near York, Nebraska. Upon approaching the vehicle and engaging with the driver, the officer sensed possible illicit activities and subsequently decided to conduct a vehicle search.

Details outlining the trooper’s reasons for initiating the search have yet to be disclosed. Nevertheless, the inspection of the BMW X5 yielded 55 pounds of what authorities suspect to be cocaine. The drugs were strategically concealed within the compartment designed to hold the vehicle’s spare tire.

Nicandro Garcia-Perez, a 38-year-old resident of Chino Hills, California, and the operator of the vehicle, was taken into custody. The charges filed against Garcia-Perez include possession of cocaine, intent to distribute, and absence of a drug tax stamp. He is currently being held at the York County Jail.
