Uncle went after a 14-year-old boy who got into a fight with his nephew over $30 when the boy’s father stepped in to defend his son, but he slammed his head on the concrete repeatedly, causing significant damage to the brain; convicted

According to reports, a 26-year-old, later identified as Trevor, has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and affray in the death of a 43-year-old father of three, later identified as Christopher. This tragic incident, stemming from a middle school fight, led to a fatal confrontation in May 2023, resulting in Christopher’s death from a traumatic brain injury.

The altercation began at school when Christopher’s 14-year-old son was involved in a fight with another teenager, who was Trevor’s nephew. The dispute, reportedly over $30, escalated when the younger Christopher’s son headed home, followed by the other teenager and, crucially, Trevor.

Unaware of the developing situation, Christopher was gardening in his front yard. Upon learning of the events, he attempted to diffuse the situation, insisting that the fight would not continue on his property. This refusal allegedly provoked Trevor and his crew, leading to a violent escalation.

The situation turned dire when Christopher, in an effort to protect his family, punched Trevor. In the ensuing brawl, Trevor used a pin-down maneuver, causing Christopher to fall and hit his head on the pavement. Trevor then punched Christopher multiple times in the face before fleeing. Christopher’s injuries were severe, and he unfortunately succumbed to blunt force trauma, with his death later ruled a homicide.

Initially charged with manslaughter and several counts of assault, along with affray and disorderly conduct, Trevor ultimately pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and affray. Prosecutors have indicated their intention to seek a five-year sentence. The sentencing is scheduled for October 25.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Christopher’s sister-in-law to cover funeral costs and support his fiancée and children. “Chris went outside to defend his son and was beaten in the head, and his head was slammed on the concrete repeatedly, causing significant brain damage,” the fundraiser says . “These men took the life of an amazing father and life partner. He left this Earth and those who loved him way too soon.”
