Court records show that a 51-year-old convicted robber, later identified as Wayne, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend, later identified as Sandra, in July 2021. Sandra, a 46-year-old nurse at a hospital, suffered a tragic end after being stabbed more than 25 times by Wayne.
The incident unfolded on a fateful evening when Wayne, having driven Sandra’s white vehicle throughout the day, picked her up from work. Despite having broken up months earlier, Wayne claimed he was retrieving some belongings from Sandra’s home. However, the day took a dark turn when witnesses observed the vehicle being driven erratically before stopping near a wooded area.
Witnesses reported seeing Wayne outside the vehicle, involved in a physical altercation with Sandra. The DA disclosed that Wayne stabbed Sandra repeatedly, causing fatal wounds to her heart and lung. Following the incident, Wayne fled the scene in her vehicle, leaving Sandra desperately screaming for help and bleeding profusely.
A resident’s timely discovery of Sandra led to her being rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead. Police launched an immediate search for Wayne, finding Sandra’s vehicle with traces of blood inside and outside the vehicle. Surveillance footage and a witness account further implicated Wayne, leading to his arrest a week after the murder.
At his trial, evidence of Wayne’s guilt was overwhelming, including DNA mixtures found in the blood stains in the vehicle, matching both Sandra and Wayne. Wayne, who had previously served 14 years of a 19-year sentence for first-degree robbery, was found guilty of second-degree murder in December.
