Omaha teen arrested in connection with homicide near Sippin Sirens bar

Omaha, Nebraska – The Omaha police have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a recent murder. The arrest sheds light on a tragic incident that took place in mid-November, adding a new chapter to the city’s ongoing efforts to address violent crime.

Zadik Motino, the individual arrested, faces serious charges including second-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. These charges stem from the Nov. 17 murder of 17-year-old Mauricio Chavez.

The incident occurred near the Sippin Sirens bar, located at 42nd and H streets. Officers responded to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Chavez with a gunshot wound. Tragically, despite being rushed to the hospital, Chavez was pronounced dead.

Adding to the complexity of the case, police revealed that Motino also has active felony warrants out of Sarpy County. This detail suggests a broader pattern of criminal behavior that extends beyond the Omaha homicide.

The investigation into this homicide is still in progress. The Omaha police are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. The arrest of Motino marks a critical step in seeking justice for Chavez and providing closure to his family and the community. As the case unfolds, it highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing violent crime and ensuring public safety.
