Omaha RiverFront’s highly anticipated parks set to reopen on August 18

Omaha, Nebraska – Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority has recently issued a news release, unveiling the eagerly awaited reopening of Heartland of America Park at The RiverFront and Lewis & Clark Landing at The RiverFront to the general public. The scheduled date for the reopening has been set for August 18, which is slightly earlier than initially projected, as stated in the news release.

The RiverFront, boasting an expansive 72 acres of public park space, encompasses both Heartland of America Park and Lewis & Clark Landing, which together offer a generous expanse of 58 acres. In contrast, the Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront spans a modest 14 acres.

Heartland of America Park boasts a range of permanent amenities, including a sprawling event lawn spanning an impressive 100,000 square feet, a year-round skate ribbon, a picturesque lakeside amphitheater, and a scenic overlook of the Missouri River at the Farnam Pier Bocce Courts, among other features.

Similarly, Lewis & Clark Landing showcases its own set of permanent amenities, such as a destination playground that dwarfs Gene Leahy Mall’s Arches Playground by fourfold, an Urban Beach, sand volleyball courts, and pickleball courts, among other offerings.

Further details regarding grand opening events for these two parks, as well as programming throughout the weekend, will be unveiled in due course. These initiatives aim to provide opportunities for local community partners to invigorate the space throughout the year.
