Omaha Northwest High School student held without bond on first-degree murder charges

Omaha, Nebraska – Tyrice Coleman, an 18-year-old student from Omaha Northwest High School, is currently being held without bond following charges related to a deadly shooting incident. Coleman is facing severe allegations including first-degree murder, the use of a gun to commit a felony, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

The charges stem from the death of 17-year-old Messiah Holley in November. The incident occurred near 18th and Spencer streets in Omaha, where police found Holley with multiple gunshot wounds to his head, neck, back, and arms. Coleman appeared in Douglas County court on Friday morning to face these charges.

According to prosecutors, surveillance video captured Coleman and a group of suspects assaulting Holley before the shooting. Coleman was later identified as the shooter by two of the suspects involved. Furthermore, police discovered the gun used in the crime in a nearby home, along with Coleman’s school tablet.

Before this incident, Coleman was already at the Douglas County Youth Center on separate firearm charges. He has now been transferred to Douglas County Corrections. His next court appearance is scheduled for February, where he will face the consequences of these grave charges.
