Madison, Nebraska – A Nebraska mother has entered a guilty plea regarding her involvement in facilitating an unlawful abortion for her 17-year-old daughter in the previous year, as well as her actions to conceal the evidence.
Jessica Burgess, aged 42, acknowledged her guilt on Friday under a plea deal, admitting to three distinct charges: tampering with human skeletal remains, false reporting, and administering an abortion after a minimum of 20 weeks’ gestation.
Burgess was indicted for assisting her then-minor daughter in terminating her pregnancy. The court has scheduled Burgess’s sentencing hearing for September 22.
On a related note, her daughter has also been found guilty. In May, the young woman accepted guilt for charges related to removing, concealing, or abandoning a deceased body. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 20.
