Swift action prevents injuries in west Omaha apartment fire

Omaha, Nebraska – Omaha fire investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding a fire that broke out at a west Omaha apartment building on Monday evening. The incident, which brought the Omaha Fire Department (OFD) to action, took place around the vicinity of 186th Street and West Dodge Hills Plaza.

According to OFD reports, the emergency call was made at approximately 5:19 p.m. When the fire crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke and flames billowing from the second-story exterior of the apartment building. Due to the severity of the situation, a working fire was promptly declared.

However, thanks to the quick response and efficiency of the fire crews, the flames were subdued and brought under control in a commendable time frame of about 15 minutes. Hearteningly, residents of the building were alert and had evacuated prior to the crew’s arrival, ensuring that no injuries occurred during the incident.

Initial assessments have estimated the damage from the fire to be around $10,000. As the community comes to terms with the sudden event, OFD investigators remain committed to uncovering the cause of the fire, ensuring the safety and security of residents in the future.
