Omaha man entered ‘no contest’ plea in the death of teenager

Omaha, Nebraska – An Omaha resident, Justyn Wagner, has entered a ‘no contest’ plea in relation to charges stemming from the fatal shooting of 18-year-old KorVanta Hill in October 2021. Wagner faced multiple charges including second-degree murder, use of a weapon in a felony, and possession of a firearm by a restricted individual.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 39th and Pratt streets when Hill was accompanying his father to buy a soda.

Previously, Elijah Robinson received a sentence ranging from 40 to 60 years due to his involvement in Hill’s demise. According to Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine, both Wagner and Robinson had initially been searching for opposing gang affiliates to target. With Robinson at the wheel and Wagner alleged to be the one firing the shots, they tragically settled on Hill as their victim when they couldn’t locate any gang members.

The prosecution presented evidence suggesting a premeditated act, noting both the vehicle’s lights and the duo’s mobile phones were switched off during the incident.

Wagner’s sentencing is slated for December 19.
