Omaha Farmers Market celebrates 30th anniversary with exciting kickoff

Omaha, Nebraska – The Omaha Farmers Market is set to commence its 30th anniversary celebration this weekend, marking a significant milestone for this beloved community event.

The market serves as a platform for local growers and artisans to exhibit and sell their fresh produce and unique creations. To mark the occasion, a special ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned before the market opens its doors.

With two locations in the Old Market and Aksarben Village, the market attracts a robust participation of over 200 vendors. Marketing Director Maggie Winton expressed her admiration for the continuous support from the city of Omaha and its surrounding areas, emphasizing the significant role of community backing in sustaining local growers and artisans.

Among the long-standing vendors is Ed Welchert Produce, who has been an integral part of the market since its inception. Donna Welchert, a representative from the company, appreciates the diverse mix of visitors that frequent the market year after year. She noted the market’s evolution, as it now attracts individuals from various age groups, representing the vibrant diversity of the community.

The Omaha Farmers Market will take place on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Old Market and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Aksarben Village, running through October 15. This extended period provides ample opportunity for locals to enjoy the abundance of fresh produce and unique offerings while supporting local vendors.
