Nebraska DHHS suspends Omaha daycare license following toddler’s tragic death

Omaha, Nebraska – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has elaborated on its decision to suspend the license of an Omaha-based daycare, Kidz of the Future, revealing concerns that extend beyond a recent tragic incident involving a toddler.

The issued emergency order indicates the absence of any documentation verifying that the van driver, associated with the daycare, underwent the requisite training or a criminal background check. Moreover, the individual was not officially listed as an employee of the establishment.

Subsequently, the driver has been legally charged with child abuse by neglect leading to death.

He provided a statement to the police, mentioning that he was diverted by another child, thus overlooking the presence of 1-year-old Ra’Miyah Worthington in the van. It was only after a gap of over five hours, during his afternoon route, that he discovered the child.

Medical professionals confirmed that upon arrival at the hospital, Ra’Miyah’s body temperature had alarmingly risen to 109 degrees.

Kidz of the Future is scheduled for a hearing concerning its operational license on October 31.
