Late-night violence in Levi Carter Park leads to arrests by Omaha police

Omaha, Nebraska – Omaha law enforcement detained two individuals following an apparent violent theft at a local park late Wednesday evening.

Officers were dispatched to Levi Carter Park, situated close to Carter Boulevard and 12th Street East, at approximately 9:46 p.m., responding to an incident report concerning a slashing, as confirmed by the Omaha police department.

The complainant, Mr. Ronald Williams, age 65, reported to law enforcement that he had been involved in a heated dispute with the accused near the park’s boat docks.

The police investigative team reported that this disagreement intensified, resulting in a physical clash during which Mr. Williams was injured with a knife by one of the defendants, recognized as 18-year-old Isias Palacios.

Following the altercation, both Palacios and his co-accused, 39-year-old Jessica Sanchez, purportedly made their escape in Williams’ vehicle, as informed by Omaha police officials.

Investigators associated the defendants with a subsequent hit-and-run incident, which culminated in a vehicular accident near Lindbergh Drive and E Fort Street.

Police officers located Sanchez near the scene of the accident and subsequently apprehended Palacios at his home, as per Omaha police department’s report.

For his involvement, Palacios was charged with robbery and third-degree assault, while Sanchez was detained under accusations of theft by receiving.

Williams, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for medical attention, as communicated by Omaha police.
