Man said he became very upset with his mother and stepfather due to their abuse over him and his autistic brother, to the point he went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and fatally stabbed both of them before saying “bring a clean-up crew” to dispatcher; sentenced!

Court records show that a 32-year-old man, later identified as Cody, has been sentenced to 55 years in prison after admitting to the horrific murder of his mother and stepfather two years ago. He previously pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of his mother, later identified as Deborah, and his stepfather, later identified as Duane. This plea came as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who in return downgraded the charges from first- to second-degree murder.

The details of the crime, as outlined in a probable cause affidavit, reveal a chilling scenario. Responding to a call on September 23, 2022, police discovered a gruesome scene at the home. Cody himself had alerted authorities, confessing to the stabbing of his mother and stepfather and requesting the dispatcher first responders to bring a “clean up crew.” Upon their arrival, officers found Parker armed with a knife and the victims suffering from fatal stab wounds. Deborah was pronounced dead immediately after being taken to the hospital, while Duane succumbed to his injuries some time later.

Parker’s arrest was immediate, and during the investigation, he disclosed a history of disputes with his mother, attributing the attack to a culmination of “verbal and physical” altercations and alleging verbal abuse on her part. While speaking to investigators, Cody said he became very upset with the abuse over him and his autistic brother, to the point he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed his mother several times while she was lying on the bed, pleading for him to stop. He couldn’t provide information to the police about how he stabbed his father and only said he saw the man injured with multiple stab wounds.

Despite Parker’s claims of remorse and allegations of abuse, the legal system moved forward with a significant sentence. Cody was sentenced to 55 years in a state correctional facility.
