According to reports, a 73-year-old woman, later identified as Mary, was fatally stabbed in her own home as she attempted to protect her granddaughter during a violent altercation with her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend, later identified as Angelo. Angelo has been charged with first-degree murder and assault following the attack, which left Mary dead and her 17-year-old granddaughter with non-life-threatening injuries. The confrontation went out of control when Angelo, the ex-boyfriend of the granddaughter, tried to force his way into Mary’s residence.
The incident unfolded last Thursday, with police responding to the scene shortly before 3 p.m. They discovered Mary, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the hospital, with investigators noting that she had sustained at least 25 stab wounds in the brutal attack. According to police reports, Angelo, who had previously been in a relationship with the granddaughter, prepared for the assault by purchasing a glass cutter and a pocketknife. His initial attempt to enter the home through the back was thwarted, leading him to confront Mary at the front door. After a brief conversation, Angelo forcefully entered the residence.
The situation escalated when Angelo and the granddaughter began to argue, prompting Mary to intervene and yell at him in an attempt to protect her granddaughter. This act of bravery led to a fatal confrontation, with Angelo stabbing Mary once in the shoulder and then continuing to do so in a reportedly panic-driven assault. Authorities swiftly apprehended Angelo outside his residence within 90 minutes of the emergency call. The chief of the police confirmed Angelo’s identity and his previous relationship with the victim’s granddaughter, outlining the sequence of events that led to the tragic incident.
