Man, who told his son about killing his wife, sent a series of insulting messages to his wife and then returned to the home while their daughter was at school and sxually assaulted the woman before strangling her to death; charged

A 48-year-old man, later identified as Matthew, is facing serious charges for the death of his 49-year-old wife, later identified as Jami. He’s accused of attacking her in their home, ending her life by strangulation, and then admitting to these actions in texts sent to his family and work colleagues. Arrested last Thursday, Matthew faces charges including both first- and second-degree murder, strangulation, and two instances of aggravated indecent assault.

According to DA’s office, the case came to light on the afternoon of February 5th when the police were alerted to a tragic situation at a residence. The couple’s 11-year-old daughter made the call after returning from school and discovering her mother’s body. She told the dispatcher her father was “really mean and hurts” her mother. Responders at the scene found Jami deceased in her bed, with visible injuries suggestive of a violent struggle. The victim had red marks on her neck and possible bгuiѕing on her forehead. The coroner’s office later confirmed her death was a homicide caused by asphyxiation from strangulation, further noting evidence of sxual assault on her body.

Investigations revealed that on the day of the discovery, Matthew had checked out of a nearby hotel where he was staying, only a few hours before his wife was found. Examination of his phone showed over 100 messages sent to Jami in the days prior, where Matthew insulted and threatened her. On the day she was found dead, he told her her needed to return home to collect some items.

The content of these messages was alarming. Among them, Matthew warned, “You’re not getting away with this,” and ominously declared, “If I’m going down you’re coming with me,” as per reports. His messages to a coworker on February 7th further betrayed his state of mind, with texts indicating he felt trapped in a dire situation and believed he wouldn’t return. Moreover, on February 3rd, Matthew’s troubling mindset was evident in messages to his son, suggesting violent intentions towards Jami and revealing a preoccupation with thoughts of murder. Matthew was arrested on February 8th following a brief standoff with police.
